Boards are made to be trusted, and the Packers shredded theirs for Jalen Sundell. He came off 42 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. It is not that Gray is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 29
In the 25th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 41
Chris Braswell at pick 41 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 43
Payton Wilson in Round 2, Pick 26 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 75
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Calen Bullock at the Round 3 slot is the proof. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · DJ James · CB · rank 87
Fair-plus on DJ James, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 126
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Cedric Gray at linebacker with quarterback, wide receiver and other spots open.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 156
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kitan Oladapo in the Round 5 slot. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R6.26 · Pick 201 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 220
A big swing on Garret Greenfield at the 201st overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Daijun Edwards · RB · rank 205
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Daijun Edwards at slot 219. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 287
Jalen Sundell at pick No. 245 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Jaden Shirden · RB · rank 279
A real head-scratcher, Jaden Shirden in No. 255 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
