You can hear the double-takes from here. The Packers took Evan Anderson at pick No. 245, roughly 37 spots before his name belonged. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hadden. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper in the 41st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They took Kingsley Suamataia at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jaden Hicks at No. 88 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Andru Phillips at the 91st pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They jumped the gun on Roger Rosengarten, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Travis in pick No. 169, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let a cornerback like Kamal Hadden reach pick 202 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Curtis Jacobs still on the board at No. 219. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Evan Anderson. A need, and now a little less of one.
A wild overpay on Blake Watson in slot 255, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
