The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Garret Greenfield, the No. 216 name on the board, in pick 245. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They will need Bortolini to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Braswell at pick No. 41, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Payton Wilson. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Mike Sainristil at Round 3, Pick 25 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Calen Bullock slipping to pick 91 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Isaac Guerendo at the 126th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They talked themselves into Tanor Bortolini at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Logan Lee at No. 202 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
A reach on Michael Barrett in the 219th pick; the board had better options right there. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
They barely believed it either: Garret Greenfield still on the board at No. 245. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Marcellas Dial at slot 255 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
