San Francisco 49ers

Grand theft in the 109th overall pick: the 49ers steal Lew and grade out a B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Connor Lew, the No. 61 name on the board, stolen at the Round 4 slot.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Moore has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.6 · Pick 38 · Derrick Moore · DE-EDGE · rank 64
Derrick Moore in pick 38 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jadarian Price · RB · rank 70
Jadarian Price at the Round 2 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Daylen Everette · CB · rank 81
A slide stopped in No. 95, with Daylen Everette worth more than the price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Kamari Ramsey · S · rank 73
The board fumbled Kamari Ramsey all the way to slot 106, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Connor Lew · C · rank 61
Connor Lew in the 109th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · DeMonte Capehart · DT · rank 131
A straight-up fair deal on DeMonte Capehart at pick No. 125, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Kevin Coleman Jr. · WR · rank 158
Kevin Coleman Jr. at Round 4, Pick 33 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.38 · Pick 138 · Beau Stephens · OG · rank 154
They paid a round early for Beau Stephens in the 138th overall pick, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.39 · Pick 139 · Isaiah World · OT · rank 141
No drama and no debate, Isaiah World went about where he belonged in No. 139. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.8 · Pick 148 · Skyler Gill-Howard · DT · rank 146
They took Skyler Gill-Howard at par in pick No. 148, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.27 · Pick 167 · Eric Rivers · WR · rank 164
A reasonable price with a little left over, Eric Rivers in the 167th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.30 · Pick 170 · Ar'maj Reed-Adams · OG · rank 166
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Ar'maj Reed-Adams. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.40 · Pick 256 · Isaac Smith · S · rank 275
A big swing on Isaac Smith at slot 256, well ahead of any board in the building. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
