Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Nathaniel Watson at the Round 5 slot is 43 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid a round early for Edgerrin Cooper in the 41st overall pick, more than the board wanted. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid sticker price for Bralen Trice in the 58th pick, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in Round 3, Pick 25; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They liked Zak Zinter enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 91. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Roger Rosengarten at pick No. 126 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nathaniel Watson at slot 169 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaden Crumedy this early at the 202nd pick. The roster fit checks out.
A premium they did not need to pay, Michael Barrett a notch or two before his time. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Jalen Sundell in the 245th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Kimani Vidal in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
