For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Packers walked out of the weekend still thin at edge rusher, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Nubin steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Every board in the league had Bortolini lower, and that gap is the story.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Cooper DeJean in the 25th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Jordan Morgan. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Tyler Nubin at the 58th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
By-the-book stuff, Trey Benson at slot 88 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Michael Hall Jr. slipping to pick No. 91 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They let Cedric Gray come to them and pounced at pick 126. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They talked themselves into Tanor Bortolini at the 169th pick, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
