There is reaching, and then there is Drew Kendall at the 238th pick. The Patriots jumped the board by 56 and dared it to prove them wrong. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Getting Henderson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Emeka Egbuka at No. 38 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
TreVeyon Henderson in pick 69 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid sticker price for Deone Walker in the 77th pick, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Terrance Ferguson in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A big swing on Kyle Williams at Round 5, Pick 6, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They let Kyle Monangai come to them and pounced at the 217th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value said wait; Teddye Buchanan in No. 220 says they were not listening. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Drew Kendall at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
