Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Landing Jones that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The Davis pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid sticker price for Javon Bullard in the 58th overall pick, and that is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
The board had Xavier Legette higher than pick No. 88, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
A conviction pick on Ray Davis at the 91st pick that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ben Sinnott at slot 127 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jarrian Jones in slot 168 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Elijah Jones at the 204th overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Josh Proctor in No. 216; it is a wash and a sensible one. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Trevin Wallace in the 243rd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Nice patience on KT Leveston, who had no business lasting to pick No. 251. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
