The rest of the league will want that one back. Ro Torrence tumbling to the Cowboys in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A mixed bag that lands at C+.
The Gray pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jaylen Wright at the 77th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Cedric Gray in slot 87 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They let Brandon Dorlus come to them and pounced at pick 91. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dwight McGlothern at the Round 5 slot is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a wide receiver like Cornelius Johnson reach No. 216 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Julian Pearl is a better player than pick No. 219 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They will replay Ro Torrence at Round 7, Pick 3 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jaylan Ford at the 233rd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Dominique Hampton higher than slot 244, and the safety fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
