Somebody in the 159th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Kalen King, the No. 140 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Bishop left real value on the table behind him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th overall pick they get a true top target at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in Round 2, Pick 32, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid up for Cole Bishop at the 95th pick when waiting would have done the job. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A conviction pick on Fabien Lovett at the Round 4 slot that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Kalen King in pick No. 159 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Value with a capital V on KT Leveston in slot 252, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
