There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Commanders started one anyway for Keilan Robinson, 123 picks ahead of schedule.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had cheaper options than Patrick Paul at the 36th pick, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Payton Wilson at slot 40 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Zak Zinter in the Round 3 slot, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Khyree Jackson in the 100th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached a country mile for Jordan Travis at pick 102, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Theo Johnson at pick 141 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid a round early for Andrew Raym in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Keilan Robinson at the 223rd pick, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
