Somebody in Round 5, Pick 37 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Kitan Oladapo, the No. 154 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Kamara proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Worthy at No. 54, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Khyree Jackson in pick No. 105. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Johnny Wilson in Round 4, Pick 14 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mohamed Kamara at slot 116 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Roger Rosengarten in pick 132 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board had Tommy Eichenberg higher than the 159th pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kitan Oladapo in the 173rd overall pick, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
