Kansas City Chiefs

Best value of the weekend goes to the Chiefs for Milton III: A-.

by amaze · 2024 NFL Draft · 13 picks · 10 steals · 0 reaches
Value A-
Need B+
Trades A+
Future B-

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Joe Milton III, the No. 199 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 252.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Olumuyiwa Fashanu and all.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.1 · Pick 33 · Olumuyiwa Fashanu · OT · rank 8
Taking Olumuyiwa Fashanu in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 27
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Guyton at slot 47 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 56
Value with a capital V on Xavier Worthy in pick 64, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 73
The board fumbled Kamren Kinchens all the way to pick No. 95, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Ja'Lynn Polk · WR · rank 71
They robbed the room for Ja'Lynn Polk here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.5 · Pick 105 · Cade Stover · TE · rank 85
Circle this one: Cade Stover at No. 105 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 86
They barely believed it either: Blake Corum still on the board at the 108th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.31 · Pick 131 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 132
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Sinnott at the 131st pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Kalen King · CB · rank 140
Kalen King in pick 141 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.9 · Pick 145 · Fabien Lovett · DL · rank 145
They paid sticker price for Fabien Lovett in the 145th overall pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 146
They read the board right and Roger Rosengarten was the payoff at the 158th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Chau Smith-Wade · CB · rank 133
Chau Smith-Wade in Round 5, Pick 36 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R7.32 · Pick 252 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 199
You do not let a quarterback like Joe Milton III reach slot 252 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
