Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bills, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
Landing Reese that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
Reaching for Durant left real value on the table behind him. They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 30th pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Dillon Thieneman is a better player than pick 48 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Jacob Rodriguez. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Connor Lew slipping to No. 91 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Louis Moore in Round 5, Pick 25, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
