After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
Wallace at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Every board in the league had Worthy lower, and that gap is the story.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
Xavier Worthy at pick No. 47 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Patrick Paul at the 70th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cole Bishop at the Round 4 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They let Johnny Wilson come to them and pounced at No. 141. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dwight McGlothern at pick 183 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Fabien Lovett at par in the 185th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Caedan Wallace reach Round 7, Pick 39 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
