Nobody else had Ben Sinnott anywhere near the 32nd pick. The Chiefs did, by 97 spots, and that gap is the whole story. The final tally is a middling C.
The McGlothern pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
Value said wait; Ben Sinnott in No. 32 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Cedric Gray at the 126th overall pick is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Sataoa Laumea in pick No. 132 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Beau Brade in pick 159, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Jha'Quan Jackson at the 173rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 28 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tylan Grable reach slot 252 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
