The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Browns watched Jake Slaughter slide 52 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 14 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
In No. 24 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Omar Cooper Jr. at Round 2, Pick 7 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Brandon Cisse in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Chris Bell at pick 80 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Jake Slaughter was still sitting there in the 107th pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A premium they did not need to pay, Drew Allar a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A slide stopped in the 146th overall pick, with Harold Perkins Jr. worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Kaytron Allen in Round 5, Pick 9 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had Nate Boerkircher higher than the 173rd pick, and the tight end fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Noah Whittington at the 248th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
