This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Nicholas Singleton, the No. 108 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 195. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They are betting Caldwell proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 15th pick they get a two-high chess piece, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Jacob Rodriguez at the 77th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A big swing on Jeff Caldwell at the Round 4 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Michael Trigg in No. 155 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Hezekiah Masses in pick No. 166, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; Nicholas Singleton at pick 195 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kobe Baynes in slot 229 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
