You could see the war room lean forward. Demetrius Knight Jr. at the 249th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get juice off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
They robbed the room for Travis Hunter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They will replay Ashton Jeanty at No. 76 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They barely believed it either: Jahdae Barron still on the board at the 150th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Circle this one: Walter Nolen at pick No. 170 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board fumbled Cam Ward all the way to the 174th pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow T.J. Sanders was still sitting there in pick 190, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Tre Harris in the 211th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Demetrius Knight Jr. in pick 249, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
