The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Giants spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The Sainristil pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The cost of the Mims reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Fair-plus on T'Vondre Sweat, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Jermaine Burton went about where he belonged in pick No. 54. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Amarius Mims at the 69th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy little value on Blake Fisher in pick 105, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, MarShawn Lloyd at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Mike Sainristil in the 183rd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
