They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Newton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They will need Holker to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Drake Maye at the Round 1 slot, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Chop Robinson went about where he belonged in pick No. 34. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A conviction pick on Malachi Corley at pick 68 that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let a cornerback like Josh Newton reach slot 104 and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.

Fair-plus on Roger Rosengarten, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They took Jha'Quan Jackson at par in No. 229, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
