Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders bet the future on Maye. The board says B-.

Start where it matters. The Raiders took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.

That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Reaching for Magee left real value on the table behind him. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.7 · Pick 7 · Drake Maye · QB · rank 5
In No. 7 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Adonai Mitchell · WR · rank 33
Adonai Mitchell at pick No. 44 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 79
No drama and no debate, Jaylen Wright went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Mekhi Wingo · DT · rank 113
By-the-book stuff, Mekhi Wingo at slot 113 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
R5.11 · Pick 147 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 149
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jarrian Jones. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 220
They paid up for Garret Greenfield at the 210th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.1 · Pick 221 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 244
A wild overpay on Jordan Magee in pick 221, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Trey Knox · TE · rank 237
They went early on Trey Knox in Round 7, Pick 5, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 175
Somehow Dwight McGlothern was still sitting there in the 227th overall pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
