They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Lassiter. The Holker pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
The board fumbled Jared Verse all the way to the 34th pick, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Kamari Lassiter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They will replay Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at pick No. 104 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Dallin Holker in Round 4, Pick 36 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Steal is underselling it; Mason McCormick at pick 182 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Tayvion Robinson at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
