The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 130 on Jaylan Ford a full 20 spots early. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Guyton that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 30th overall pick they get an enforcer at safety at fair value.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Guyton in No. 62. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had cheaper options than Braelon Allen at pick 93, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaylan Ford this early at pick No. 130. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They liked Christian Jones enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 174. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Dwight McGlothern at Round 6, Pick 37 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Dorian Singer at No. 251 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
