Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Christian Jones, the No. 132 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 164. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
T'Vondre Sweat at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kamari Lassiter at Round 2, Pick 24 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Xavier Worthy in pick 61, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Payton Wilson in slot 86 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid a round early for MarShawn Lloyd in the 87th overall pick, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They did well to land Matt Goncalves in No. 120, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Christian Jones at pick No. 164 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nice patience on Marist Liufau, who had no business lasting to the 174th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
