The Kyle McCord pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 142 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Too much went sideways, and the D+ is the honest tally.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 26 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Eli Stowers in No. 58 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
A big swing on Kyle McCord at the 90th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nick Nash this early at Round 4, Pick 26. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A wild overpay on Kyle Monangai in slot 161, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jason Henderson in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached a country mile for Korey Foreman at the 250th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
