Best value of the weekend goes to the Commanders for Clark: B+.

Call it larceny. De'Corian Clark sat on the board until slot 223, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Reaching for Stover left real value on the table behind him.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Olumuyiwa Fashanu · OT · rank 10
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · J.J. McCarthy · QB · rank 43
No edge and no loss on J.J. McCarthy in the 36th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 36
A tidy little value on Chris Braswell in pick No. 40, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 87
They went early on Christian Mahogany in the Round 3 slot, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Cade Stover · TE · rank 128
Cade Stover in No. 100 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Donovan Edwards · RB · rank 103
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Donovan Edwards. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Beau Brade · S · rank 116
Beau Brade at the 113th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Nelson Ceaser · DL-EDGE · rank 140
By-the-book stuff, Nelson Ceaser at pick 141 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Justin Walley · CB · rank 171
A slide stopped in No. 181, with Justin Walley worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · De'Corian Clark · WR · rank 193
The board fumbled De'Corian Clark all the way to slot 223, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.13 · Pick 233 · Maurice Smith · C · rank 237
They paid sticker price for Maurice Smith in pick 233, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
