The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Eagles watched Nehemiah Pritchett slide 29 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nothing to complain about; Cooper Beebe went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Payton Wilson. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in pick 120. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good price on Dillon Johnson in the 170th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Malik Mustapha at Round 5, Pick 35 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Nehemiah Pritchett in pick No. 172 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 210 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nathan Thomas slipping to pick No. 239 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
