The war room fell hard for Taylen Green, and it showed at pick No. 151: 40 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McAlister. They will answer for taking cornerback early while edge rusher and running back went begging.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
In No. 30 they get an enforcer at safety at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Good price on Anthony Hill Jr. in Round 2, Pick 11, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They will replay Eli Stowers at the 75th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
A surprising call. With edge rusher and running back still to address, they spent the Round 3 slot on Keionte Scott, a cornerback they were not short of.
A straight-up fair deal on Ted Hurst at slot 90, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jalen Farmer in the 94th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Kaleb Proctor at par in Round 4, Pick 30, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taylen Green at pick 151 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Eric McAlister in slot 227 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Thaddeus Dixon at the Round 7 slot. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
