The trade table was where it all came apart. The Dolphins shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If Milton III pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Adding Cam Taylor-Britt by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and wide receiver is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 2 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
In the 21st pick they get protection for the quarterback, reach and all. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Adisa Isaac in slot 49; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They jumped the gun on Michael Hall Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Andru Phillips in No. 106, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board had cheaper options than Joe Milton III at Round 6, Pick 9, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach for Jaylen Harrell in the 198th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They did well to land Dominique Hampton in the Round 7 slot, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
