Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. Josaiah Stewart, the No. 41 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 220. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Every board in the league had Morris lower, and that gap is the story. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get a sticky cover corner. Need was not the driver here.
By-the-book stuff, Matthew Golden at slot 38 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Circle this one: Malaki Starks at pick 69 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Tate Ratledge here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Ashton Jeanty still on the board at No. 104. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Steal is underselling it; Wyatt Milum at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Lander Barton in Round 7, Pick 1 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Josaiah Stewart in the 220th overall pick, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
