Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Vikings spent slot 203 on Taulia Tagovailoa, a name the board had a full 93 spots lower. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Taylor at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value.
In slot 17 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Bucky Irving in pick No. 108 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jalen Coker at the 177th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Taulia Tagovailoa well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They read the board right and Trey Taylor was the payoff at No. 232. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
