Baltimore Ravens

More right than wrong for the Ravens, and a B- to prove it.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: George Gumbs Jr., 40 picks early at the Round 5 slot. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Caldwell at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.18 · Pick 18 · Kenyon Sadiq · TE · rank 17
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a matchup weapon at tight end at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.13 · Pick 45 · Lee Hunter · DT · rank 49
No edge and no loss on Lee Hunter in pick No. 45; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.16 · Pick 80 · Treydan Stukes · CB · rank 74
Treydan Stukes at No. 80 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.33 · Pick 97 · Ted Hurst · WR · rank 88
Ted Hurst slipping to the Round 3 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
R4.15 · Pick 115 · Brian Parker II · C · rank 110
A tidy little value on Brian Parker II in pick 115, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.14 · Pick 154 · George Gumbs Jr. · DE-EDGE · rank 194
A big swing on George Gumbs Jr. at slot 154, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.22 · Pick 162 · Demond Claiborne · RB · rank 164
By-the-book stuff, Demond Claiborne at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.33 · Pick 173 · Aamil Wagner · OT · rank 177
They paid sticker price for Aamil Wagner in No. 173, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.34 · Pick 174 · Beau Stephens · OG · rank 160
They read the board right and Beau Stephens was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 34. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.30 · Pick 211 · Jeff Caldwell · WR · rank 193
Jeff Caldwell at pick No. 211 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
