You can hear the double-takes from here. The Seahawks took Patrick Payton at the 199th overall pick, roughly 53 spots before his name belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Ponds pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Dillon Thieneman at Round 2, Pick 8 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They let D'Angelo Ponds come to them and pounced at pick 64. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Mike Washington Jr. in the 96th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Gracen Halton at the 110th pick, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A tidy bit of business in No. 188, where Keagen Trost graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
