Start where it matters. The Commanders took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The cost of the Eichenberg reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Getting Allen where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. It is not that Knight is a bad player; it is that the Commanders had louder needs to answer first.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd overall pick they get their quarterback of the future at fair value.
No drama and no debate, Tyler Guyton went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 4. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They did well to land Chop Robinson in the 40th pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on Graham Barton in pick 67, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tommy Eichenberg this early at slot 101. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Tyrice Knight adds a linebacker and leaves wide receiver and interior defensive lineman untouched.
They took Cam Hart at par in No. 138, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Braelon Allen here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick 220 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
