The board owed the Lions one, and it paid up: Ephesians Prysock, the No. 192 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 7 slot like a gift left on the doorstep.
The cost of the Llewellyn reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren slipping to the 50th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Lee Hunter in No. 72 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
This one needs a full-page explanation: J.C. Davis in Round 4, Pick 18, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Max Llewellyn in slot 128 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kaytron Allen at pick No. 157 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Kaleb Elarms-Orr in the 181st pick, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
A slide stopped in pick 205, with Taylen Green worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Ephesians Prysock at Round 7, Pick 6 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
