There is reaching, and then there is Zion Logue at slot 212. The Cowboys jumped the board by 38 and dared it to prove them wrong. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Green steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nothing to complain about; Chris Braswell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Cooper Beebe at pick No. 87 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Caelen Carson in slot 95 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tyrice Knight slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 24 is lovely value for the linebacker. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Frank Gore Jr. in No. 174 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Zion Logue in the 212th overall pick, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jalen Green in the 245th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
