Nobody else had Justin Eboigbe anywhere near the 219th pick. The Packers did, by 53 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The Roberts steal is the beam this whole class leans on. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
It is not that Bishop is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Xavier Worthy in slot 40 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cooper DeJean in the Round 2 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Rod Moore in pick No. 83 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
TreVeyon Henderson at No. 85 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Caelen Carson at Round 3, Pick 25. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They talked themselves into Payton Wilson at Round 4, Pick 19, and the board did not agree. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cole Bishop adds a safety and leaves quarterback and tight end untouched.
A tidy little value on Khyree Jackson in the 135th overall pick, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach on LaDarius Henderson in No. 158; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bryce Foster. It fills a real need, too.
Frank Gore Jr. in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached a country mile for Justin Eboigbe at pick No. 219, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Willie Roberts in pick 240, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
