The Chiefs' one glaring miss is tight end, a need they left exactly as they found it. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
On value alone, Greenfield makes the weekend a net positive. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
The cost of the Ali reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Morgan in the 38th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Xavier Legette at the 49th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on DJ James at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They took Maason Smith at par in pick No. 106, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Myles Cole in No. 159, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Tahj Washington at Round 5, Pick 37 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Rasheen Ali at pick 188 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Garret Greenfield reach the 247th overall pick and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Michael Barrett at pick No. 252 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
