The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bills watched Ajani Cornelius slide 57 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
If Kiser pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 30 they get an anchor for the defensive front, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach pick 56 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Isaiah Bond is a better player than the 62nd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Jordan Phillips in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
O'Donnell Fortune in pick No. 131 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They will replay Ajani Cornelius at No. 171 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jack Kiser at the 175th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quincy Riley at Round 6, Pick 1 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Nothing to complain about; Addison West went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing KeAndre Lambert-Smith in Round 6, Pick 30. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
