Call it larceny. Chandler Rivers sat on the board until No. 129, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
CJ Allen at the 29th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Germie Bernard in slot 76, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Kamari Ramsey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Chandler Rivers at pick No. 129 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 35, where Will Lee III graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Nate Boerkircher at the 161st pick squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Zavion Thomas in pick 216 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
