The war room fell hard for Jha'Quan Jackson, and it showed at the 182nd pick: 44 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. No fireworks, but a solid B.
However the rest shakes out, Stogner at that price is a win they earned. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had Bo Nix higher than Round 2, Pick 2, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kiran Amegadjie slid further than he should have, and slot 68 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Marshawn Kneeland. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ben Sinnott at the 136th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
They talked themselves into Jha'Quan Jackson at pick No. 182, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Austin Stogner at slot 229 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
