The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Christian Haynes, the 142nd overall pick, roughly 65 picks past where he belonged. The final tally is a middling C.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
So much rides on Marvin Harrison Jr. that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 5 they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They will replay Olumuyiwa Fashanu at pick No. 37 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Caelen Carson at the 69th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A quiet steal in the 79th pick: Zach Frazier for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; Junior Colson at Round 4, Pick 5 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Christian Haynes in pick 142 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Taking Chau Smith-Wade in slot 183 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Joe Milton III in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
