When a board-topper like Johnny Dixon slides to the 233rd pick, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They are betting Rosemy-Jacksaint proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Amarius Mims went about where he belonged in Round 1, Pick 24. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Bralen Trice in the 56th overall pick, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Trey Benson in pick 87 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at No. 174 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in the Round 6 slot, with Jaylan Ford worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Johnny Dixon in slot 233 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Kalen DeLoach in the 244th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
