2024 NFL Draft
· 6 picks
· 2 steals
· 3 reaches
You build a draft on nights like this. Roger Rosengarten had no business being available in the 242nd overall pick, and the Dolphins did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The cost of the Sweat reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
So much rides on T'Vondre Sweat that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 21 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Taking Kool-Aid McKinstry in pick No. 53 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Braelon Allen in the 158th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had cheaper options than Christian Jones at Round 6, Pick 11, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They talked themselves into Stefon Thompson at No. 199, and the board did not agree. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
They will replay Roger Rosengarten at slot 242 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
