You could see the war room lean forward. Anthony Gould at pick No. 200 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 21 they get a security blanket over the middle, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
A clean, defensible pick in the 55th overall pick with a little surplus value in T'Vondre Sweat. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Mason McCormick at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Malik Mustapha in the 186th pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They will replay Anthony Gould at pick 200 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on LaDarius Henderson at pick No. 239, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
