The Dolphins went off the board in a big way for Taulia Tagovailoa, 76 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.
It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In No. 21 they get a long-term starter on the line, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Jaheim Bell at pick 157 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid a round early for Jaylan Ford in Round 6, Pick 11, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taulia Tagovailoa in the 200th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Carson Steele at slot 239 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
