The rest of the league had time to spare on Miles Kitselman; the Panthers did not wait, grabbing him 169 spots ahead at pick No. 51.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 19 they get a security blanket over the middle, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Miles Kitselman at pick 51 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Somehow Avieon Terrell was still sitting there in the 83rd pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaishawn Barham. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Connor Lew at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Antonio Williams at the 159th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
J.C. Davis in the 200th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
