The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: M.J. Devonshire, the Round 7 slot, roughly 43 picks past where he belonged.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They are betting Sweat proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
T'Vondre Sweat at No. 55 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value with a capital V on Keon Coleman in the 62nd pick, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Isaiah Adams went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Beau Brade at pick No. 158, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
By-the-book stuff, Jha'Quan Jackson at slot 189 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Cornelius Johnson was still sitting there in the 198th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tylan Grable is a better player than pick 241 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
M.J. Devonshire at pick No. 247 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
