Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

The Dolphins ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Cowing has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They banked enough surplus on Jenkins to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.21 · Pick 21 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 21
In No. 21 they get a building block for the line at fair value.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 50
Kris Jenkins at pick No. 63 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.22 · Pick 122 · Jacob Cowing · WR · rank 147
They talked themselves into Jacob Cowing at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.24 · Pick 124 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 131
Sataoa Laumea at slot 124 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Beau Brade · S · rank 134
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Beau Brade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Josh Newton · CB · rank 121
Josh Newton slipping to the 133rd overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R5.18 · Pick 154 · Mason McCormick · OT · rank 146
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 18, with Mason McCormick worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.19 · Pick 155 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 154
No drama and no debate, Kitan Oladapo went about where he belonged in the 155th pick. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · Jalyx Hunt · DE-EDGE · rank 152
Jalyx Hunt in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Justin Rogers · DL · rank 194
They went early on Justin Rogers in the 186th overall pick, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.25 · Pick 200 · Erick All · TE · rank 203
No edge and no loss on Erick All in slot 200; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
